Microgreens seeds. Really easy to grow, packed with vit c. Grow all year round.

Hard candy. Cos we all need treats!

Write a list of a weeks meals you usually eat.

Use things you can store in the pantry or freezer.

When the pandemic started I did a 3 month meal plan with just what I had!

Gravy! Gravy makes everything edible.

Soy curls are great as a chicken substitute.

Tvp/soy mince is great too.

Been doing this a lot of years!

Do NOT buy anything from "Bob's Red Mill". These MF'rs had an insane pro-George Floyd BLM movement letter on their site last year. Its gone now....but they still have this up https://www.bobsredmill.com/dei-policy

There are plenty of other places to buy oatmeal, flour, etc.

beprepared.com is a good old source for prep foods. Their flat rate shipping can't be beat.

When I got covid, I already had the vitamin/drug cocktail with the exception of Vit C so I went to the dollar store while taking care not to breath on anyone and found something called Emergen-C. Loaded with Vit C, B6, B12, D and zinc.

I'd add protein powder - it's fairly inexpensive and tastes good (most flavors anyways). And it stores well. I've added a few extra 5 lbs containers to my storeroom as I know a year from now I'll be paying twice that for whey protein. I'd also add bouillon to the mix. Makes a nice bowl of warm water with veg into something reminding you of soup :)

Granulated sugar!! Not to eat, but for wound treatment. I live on a small Texas ranch and have saved two horses and a border collie by using it. These were all Major wounds:. One horse had a neck wound so deep I could see his esophagus, the other a 5 inch gash above the hock (she's accident prone - last year she tore away a third of her hoof - same treatment). The collie was torn up by a cougar. The skin around his head was in ribbons. He had a fist sized chunk torn out of his chest. None of these wounds were suturable. In each case treatment consisted of daily washing with hot salt water, then packing with sugar, cover with clean cloth and wrap with Vet Wrap. All survived, regrew flesh, skin and even hair, not scar tissue.

One of the least expensive places to buy long term food storage is from the Latter Day Saints Storehouses or online.

Learn to grow potatoes & sweet potatoes! tomatoes, squash, & beans are EASY to grow. Start practicing now! Learn to identify edible local plants. Stock up on at least, several bags of dog and/or cat food. Get a hand pump 4 your well. Make sure you have a wood burning stove, if you're somewhere cold. Get a water filter kit off ebay, the kind you make with two 5 gallon buckets. Get a laundry 'hand/manual washer' so U can do laundry w/o electricity. Get you some galvanized tubs 4 washing. Make sure you have an iron skillet, knives. Get yourself a rocket stove. of course ARM yourself, w/firearm, bow/crossbow(preferrably both) & get good knives & but a decent samurai sword or machete, maybe 1 for every family member. I could go on. But these are easy solid suggestions of things you can do. Adults don't like 'learning new skills', but we can stock up. Oh yes, get yourself a bunch of drink mixes. Just get the cheap stuff, which is just as good as namebrand (koolaid). I could keep going & going but this is good.

I am diabetic. Nearly all of this would end up killing me, or at least seriously harming me. I just need meat and water.

Also, don't forget about food for your pets. I'm stocking up on that now as well.

All excellent suggestions. Thanks for sharing these.

I would add honey to the list. It doesn't go bad, fairly easy to store and dense with natural energy. Plus it has secondary uses beyond food.

Another suggestion is mult vitamins. Even the inexpensive store brand is better than nothing during a long term food scarcity.

Cereal and powdered milk is a potential option as well.

Thanks again for your time and suggestions!
